If pared-down modern style is your thing, this probably isn’t for you. If however, you like a good pint, memorable food and characterful accommodation, it’s pure perfection. The Inn at Whitewell is that rare thing – a pub and restaurant with rooms that seem to get each of its ingredients on the button. The restaurant is a destination in its own right – for locally smoked salmon and Bowland lamb – but if you’d rather hang on to that spot by the fire, you can stay and eat in one of the bars. Rooms are individual in a rustic kind of way.
